It happens in Beijing two days ago. Jack Ma, chairman and CEO of Alibaba Group, gave a 15-minute speech to a group of students attending a “Create your own future” seminar hosted by CCTV2.

The speech was conducted in Chinese. We have picked up some interesting lines and tried to stay close to the meaning as much as we can. Should you be interested in the whole speech, you can visit the video clip and text copy here.

I act like a blind person riding on the back of a tiger. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Yet I strongly believe that the internet shall have a titanic impact on us, on human beings.”

“I believe an enterpreneur should know how to creat an opportunity and favorable environment to work with. should the environment be there ealier, he/she may not be lucky enough to lay his/her hands on it.”

“An enterpreneur must answer 2 questions with assurance. First, what do you want to do? It has nothing to do with what your family wants, what your colleagues think of and what others think of you. It’all about you.”

“Secondly, when you find out what you need to do, you get to be vey clear what you need to do. It does not matter whether you can do it.”

“You also need to find out what you need to do and what you don’t need to do. I feels the world abounds with genius, who is more capable than I am. In order to attain the goal, I have to make sure that I am the only one who have more desire than anyone in the world to make it happens.”

Sounds simple but inspiring!
